A STATEMENT OF MISSION AND MINISTRY
for City View United Church
In the light of the aims of our church as laid out in our constitution,
and because we believe that the Christian Church should be the visible expression of
the presence of God in the world,
we must continually ask ourselves how our congregation and its various activities
serve this definition of the church.
We believe that the church is servant, priest and prophet,
and that it is always the Church of Jesus Christ,
not of the people, who make up its congregations.
In worship, we celebrate God in our lives, open ourselves to the Holy Spirit,
and discover ways to serve in Christ's name.
Therefore, we believe it is the mission of City View United Church
to worship God and celebrate God's love for us
as shown through Jesus Christ,
to nurture God's people and God's Spirit within each of us,
and to offer service, support and advocacy to those in need.
As a congregation of Christ's people,
we shall strive to commit ourselves to a ministry
that reflects all these facets of God's will for us.
